Courage

Life Shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s Courage – Anais Nin
So very true! I found this thought both beautiful and powerful. It is beautiful in the sense of it being very nimble, soft and sort of mathematical. But when you think about it for a second, the use of the word ‘Courage’ gives strength and a lot of importance to this sentence.
Definitely it is all about Courage. Personally speaking, when I was faced with a very challenging and murky scenario in life, Courage is all I was left with. When life throws a curve ball at you, it’s this same word and thought, Courage, which powers you. When you see the outcomes as grave and you know you are out of options, pushed back into a wall, this Courage is what you are left with and nothing else. Nothing else to save you from the cold darkness but your inner strength which is what I think Courage is.
When I was a small kid I used to watch a cartoon named “Courage the cowardly dog”. At that time I found the cartoon mildly scary and very funny with Courage, the dog and his sarcastic computer being my favorite characters. Now when I think about it, that cartoon doesn’t feel that different from life. In life too you are sometimes not left with anyone/anything other than Courage to come to your rescue. Courage being the name of ‘cowardly dog’, just like life’s ironies, it presents itself in very dire and cold situations. Just like saving Muriel and her husband from so many foes. And at that time, ‘Courage’, just gives you warm glimpses of what the future might hold, just glimpses that provide you with enough strength to hold on and not give into the cold darkness that is waiting to engulf you.
Courage is the same feeling that gives you the strength to become a phoenix and rise from your own ashes, to fly high in the sky once again and to heal the wounds of others with your tears.  This is such a deep and thought provoking statement, yet very simple and straightforward. If you have courage you have Life, else when you don’t you can see your options reduce and dwindle. Courage can make you stay positive and give you that necessary impetus you need in life, thus expanding the horizons. Lack of it makes you meek and scared, being afraid to go out in this world and explore. Explorations can be of any nature and one should not attribute it to Courage, if the outcomes are bad one should understand, it’s just the mere nature of this thought, to give you a push out of your comforts and into the world.
So wrapping up my words, go out and take chances my friends. Live a life filled with Courage. It is the wind that will fill up under your wings and give your life aspirations and something to live for. Courage is a necessity in life, so when the last time comes, you meet your maker with this same thought and feeling of Courage. Not with the cold and dark hands of defeat but with a warm and pleasant feeling of accomplishment.
Cheers!!! To Courage!!
Amratanshu,
the cowardly yet courageous
